Are You in the Book?

People work hard and go through great lengths to find themselves in books. Whether it be spending a lifetime growing the world largest fingernails to practicing on a daily basis to ride a unicycle for the greatest distance. Sometimes people find themselves in books by accident or lack of common sense as there are books on the ways people die. Some through means not of their doing, while others by beating a World War II era grenade with a hammer trying to take it apart. People find themselves “immortalized” in books, if just for a short period of time. At the end of the day there is nothing, for the most part, wrong with that. The quest is, “For all that is done to find oneself in one of these books, is this individual’s name written in the Book?” “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:12-15). There are many books within this world which one can find oneself in but none of them are as important as the Book of Life. If my name is not found within it, I am destined for an eternity in punishment. That fact points to a grave importance in making sure my name is there. If one is not a Christian, that one must obey the gospel of Christ by: Hearing (Rom. 10:17), Believing that Word (John 8:24), Repent of One’s Sins (Acts 2:38), Confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Acts 8:37), and is Baptized for the Remission of Sins (Acts 22:16). One who is a Christian must remain faith as his name can still be blotted out of the Book (Rev. 3:5). If one sins after obeying the gospel, he needs to repent of his sins and ask for forgiveness (1 John 1:7) or his name will be blotted.

The question remains. Are you in the Book of Life?
