The Pains of Pornography (Part 2)

There are many physical problems which occur when one uses pornography. It stems from a chemical which is created in our bodies. Have you ever felt a “high” from eating your favorite food, taking part in a hobby, learning a new skill, or even as you drink that first cup of coffee? After all, the first cup is the best cup. That feeling is because of a chemical called dopamine. It acts as somewhat of a rewarding system as it is created when certain “good actions” are performed. When you perform certain actions, as the ones mentioned your body squirts your brain with dopamine which gives you that sense of pleasure.

When an individual views pornography, the brain is flooded by this chemical to the point that it is overwhelmed and actually reduces its ability to accept the chemical by shutting off certain nerves responsible for accepting this chemical. Over time and continued usage, the brain begins craving more and more dopamine. This causes a number of physical issues for the individuals who are regular users. This will not be a comprehensive list of everything which occurs. These are just a list of some. Again, please do a study on this subject as it is important.

It is Addictive

Over time the brain begins to crave more and more of the dopamine which has been withheld from it. This causes one to become addicted to pornography. Furthermore, this addiction can cause the problem to escalate out of control. Many who are involved begin to rely on “new” forms of pleasure and will watch things of a more disturbing nature. Not because they enjoy such things but because it better helps them get their fix. Many begin to act out in a public nature and some go to jail. The addiction is able to get well out of hand. Paul wrote, ““Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” (Romans 6:16). Overtime, many find themselves to be slaves of this addiction. Not only can it escalate but it can become the most important thing in life. Many have admitted to blowing off family, friends, school, work, and even worship in order to answer the beckoning call of their new master. Relationships may be destroyed with those for whom you care. Dear reader, please understand that anyone can become a slave to this wicked master if so choose because it is addicting.
